Make it count.

My father wisely advised us kids, “Make sure you like what you do, or you’ll find yourself wishing one third of your life away.”

Words captured my attention early on. I’m told “The End” are the first words I read out loud. Before long, I was solving mysteries alongside super sleuth Nancy Drew… words evoking images. The love affair grew with my introduction to diagramming sentences. Now, not just words… but words in their proper place.

My experience with systems and programming evolved into typesetting and the field that eventually became my career. Math-intensive coding. The challenge of full-page makeup with WYSIWYG still on the drawing board. The critical specs of prepress, and the fury of publication deadlines. I had found my passion… words in place. Not simply sentence structure, but words in relation to all page elements. And in the marketplace itself.

Over the course of my career I have worked extensively with national publication editors and art directors, Fortune 500 companies, high profile universities and local colleges, high-end retail, and nonprofits. In addition to design and editorial, I especially shine in the area of project management, having handled dozens of multicomponent projects on a daily basis. Breaking down the complex into bite-size pieces is a particular delight.

“Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings…” (Proverbs 22:29).
Even in our work we can honor God, help others, and support the Kingdom.

But life is about more than work. We are called to live out our faith every day. Following Jesus Christ has taken me into inner city soup kitchens, nursing homes, rehab facilities, and women’s crisis centers. I’m involved in hospice, prison ministry, and counseling. I am trained in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and grief counseling, am an ambassador for the Alliance Defending Freedom, and a chaplain with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team. I am a notary public, and serve on both Stockton‘s Environmental Commission and Historical Society.

I would consider it a privilege to assist you as you seek to visualize your goal, strengthen your message, and impact your world for Christ.
